CASP PROJECTS 2010/11
The CASP Committee has agreed a CASP Annual Action Plan 2010/11 - the final draft of the document can be viewed in the Action Plan section of this site!
NOISE NUISANCE / POLLUTION AND CAMDEN COUNCIL STREET PROPERTIES
One issue the Assoication has been most vocal about is Camden's management of noise nuisance / pollution in Camden street properties - the importance of this issue for our members has been made completely clear! It is also quite clear that Camden Council could be doing more to manage this problem more effectively. These problems more often than not are caused by poor sound insulation between converted properties. Saying this, the Association is still of the view that Camden Council could be doing more to help residents by adopting a more sympathetic approach when managing such problems.
The below report - How Camden Responds to Complaints about Noise Nuisance - was also discussed at the December 2010 cycle of DMC meetings.
Update February 2011: With pressure from CASP and a number of Camden Cllrs who sit on the Housing and Adult Social Care (HASC) Scrutiny Committee, a formal decision was taken at its meeting on January 12th 2011 to set up a scrutiny panel to look closer at the issue of 'noise nuisance'. The exact terms of reference have still not been agreed, but it is expected that this piece of work will commence in April 2011 - please see below link to meeting minutes!
In response to members concerns about fire safety and Camden Council street properties, the Association has raised these concerns directly with Camden Council on a number of occasions. Discussions have now taken place and the Association is now waiting to receive more information from Camden Council on how it proposes to address some of these concerns - when the Association has received further information, we will update members!
Update August 2009: At its July 20th Committee Meeting the Association asked if any properties wished to participate in the 'pilot' project - a number of 'properties' are now participating ahead of a further report by Camden Council - we will keep members informed as things progress!
Update November 2009: Fire Safety and LBC street properties was discussed at the Association's AGM on December 2nd 2009.
An update on this piece of work will be announced at the Association's AGM on March 30th 2011.
