CASP LEASEHOLDERS NEWS!
"It isn't the intention of the Association tonight to list the long and varied range of issues identified by Camden street property leaseholders which have been brought to the attention of the Association, as these have already been well documented and presented to Camden officers. However, it would be most fair to say that the Association would most likely be in agreement with many of the items highlighted by residents in documents contained in tonight's agenda - items ranging from hugely inflated leaseholder capital works service charges, concerns regarding unaccountable contractors and unacceptable standards of work, the urgent need to have in place a Clerk of Works, most definately in-house, who can represent residents' and Camden's interests fully, to complaints from residents asking who is responsible for enforcing the terms of any capital works contract - we can say with some confidence that these same concerns probably affect leaseholders living on Camden's estates and in Camden street properties. The Association would, however, like to focus on the relevance and inclusion into any plan of the views and concerns of Camden leaseholders living in Camden street properties" (CASP deputation to Camden's Housing and Adult Social Care Scrutiny Committee on the subject of Camden's Leaseholders' Improvement Plan, July 22nd 2008)
LEASEHOLDER SERVICE CHARGES SCRUTINY PANEL (2010/11)
In September 2010, HASC scrutiny committee launched three time limited scrutiny panels, one of which focuses on leaseholders service charge billing and Home Ownership's relationship with Camden Council's repairs department - a final report is due in March 2011 which will include a number of recommendations which will hopefully improve service delivery to Camden's leaseholders.
